Distant highlights. This is more or less a bounce lighting effect.  This cloud formation was shot from the south.  Normally you get good sunsets in the west, but every so often light does weird things and you can get a shot like this.  I liked the band of light streaking across the middle of the cloud and that is what caught my eye.  Nikon N90s with 180mm, and tripod.
